Brown leads Boston with 22 points, while Porzingis shines in return

BOSTON, Mass. - Jaylen Brown scored 22 points, Kristaps Porzingis added 20 off the bench, and the Boston Celtics powered past the Dallas Mavericks 102-88 in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals on Tuesday night.

The Celtics took a 3-1 lead in the series and can clinch a spot in the NBA Finals with a win in Game 5 on Thursday night in Dallas.

Porzingis, who missed the previous two games with a calf injury, made an immediate impact in his return. He hit two 3-pointers and scored 12 points in the first quarter to help Boston build a 30-19 lead.

Brown took over in the second quarter, scoring 10 points to help the Celtics extend their lead to 56-40 at halftime.

The Mavericks cut the deficit to 79-72 with 8:28 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Brown and Porzingis combined to score the next nine points to put the game away.

Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 20 points, followed by Jalen Brunson with 15 points and Maxi Kleber with 13 points.

The Celtics shot 48.4% from the field, while the Mavericks shot just 39.8%. Boston also outrebounded Dallas 50-35.

Conclusion

The Celtics are now one win away from reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010. They will look to close out the series in Game 5 on Thursday night in Dallas.
